City rounded off a marvellous WSL with a strong win at West Ham, coming out 4-1 winners on what was an emotional afternoon for club and league legend, Laura Coombs.

We took the lead in a closely fought first half with Jade Rose reacting like a seasoned striker to fire home from close range and register her first league goal for City, and that lead was what we took into the second half.

Despite West Ham proving to be difficult opponents in the opening 45 minutes, the regular sight of a Bunny Shaw brace saw City take a commanding lead and create a party atmosphere in Dagenham.

However, that feeling was slightly muted when Seraina Piubel pulled one back between the Jamaican’s strikes after latching onto Ffion Morgan’s low cross from the right.

That slight hiccup was not to ruin a special afternoon that would see City go on to lift the trophy, but first, it was one final league cameo from club icon, Coombs.

The former England international managed to write her fairytale ending to league football after she announced her retirement earlier in the season.

Finding space in the box, she then sent a looping effort into the roof of the net to finish what has been a fantastic season, but also a terrific career for one of our finest players.
