Liverpool fans were left distraught last summer owing to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid.
Although the Premier League champions banked £10m for the right-back, supporters were unhappy that he ran his contract down with his hometown club.
Trent was unable to resist the bright lights of the Bernabeu - but it’s fair to say this move hasn’t gone as planned for the 27-year-old.
He made his debut in the FIFA Club World Cup not long after recovering from an ankle injury with Liverpool and he missed the semi-final due to a lack of match fitness.
That absence raised eyebrows in the Madrid media - who queried the wisdom of signing an injury-prone defender.

The 27-year-old did start the season in possession of the right-back shirt but it didn’t take long for him to fall out of favour under Xabi Alonso - who was reported to be having sleepless nights over Trent’s defending.
England hopeful Alexander-Arnold then suffered an injury - ruling him out for two months - and has been helpless as his World Cup dream slips away.
He was injured again at the start of December - and isn’t expected to play again until February.
A report over the last few days suggests that English teams such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle are now preparing to end Trent’s Real Madrid nightmare.
A bid of £35m is being prepared according to Defensa Central - with the report also lifting the lid on how difficult the defender’s transition has been.
"He hasn't quite settled in at the club," the report reads.
He has made only five La Liga starts - and totalled under 400 minutes thus far. That is not the return Madrid expected for their significant investment in the right-back.

“He's finding it a bit difficult to adapt to Spain and La Liga,” the report continues - despite the presence of good friend Jude Bellingham in the Spanish capital.
Madrid media are already talking up the prospect of Trent’s departure - meaning the countdown may well be on for his return to the Premier League.
It’s a shame it’s working out like this for the one-time Liverpool favourite - with GAME OVER for his Real Madrid career to be soon confirmed.
