Real Madrid will clash heads with Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium on Sunday as they hope to secure maximum points on the road in La Liga. Los Blancos managed to secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw away at Real Betis recently, so they would be keen on returning to winning ways this weekend.

Alvaro Arbeloa will set his players up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make some changes to his starting XI for this game. Gonzalo Garcia will lead the line for the Madrid giants up top.

Defence

Andriy Lunin will operate in between the sticks for Los Blancos after he conceded one goal in his last outing. Dean Huijsen will play alongside Antonio Rudiger at the centre of the Real Madrid backline as they focus on keeping a good shape at the back throughout the game.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will play as the right-back, while Ferland Mendy hopes to prove his worth on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the freedom to go forward and express themselves in the final third.

David Alaba and Raul Asencio will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde will make up Real Madrid’s midfield. Their main job would be to establish their dominance over the opposition at the centre of the park.

Thiago Pitarch Pinar and Manuel Angel will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Vinicius Junior will hope to weave his magic on the left flank, while Brahim Diaz hopes to give a good account of himself as the right-sided wide player.

Gonzalo Garcia will lead the charge for the Madrid giants up top. He has to find a way to be a real menace in the final third.

Kylian Mbappe and Arda Guler will both be sidelined for this game because of injuries. However, Franco Mastantuono will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to impress in the latter stages of the contest if Real Madrid are in need of a goal by then.
