This Thursday, 5 October, marks the third anniversary of Germinal’s promotion to the Torneo Federal A. According to SuperDepor.com, the date still resonates with the Verde’s followers after a historic 2022/23 Regional campaign.
Led by Mario Martínez, the Rawson club beat Independiente de San Cayetano 3-1 at Villa Mitre in Bahía Blanca to be crowned Torneo Regional Federal Amateur champions and seal one of four promotion places, ending a 26-year wait for the third tier.
Independiente struck first through Santos Bacigalupe early on, but Rubén “Tito” Ramírez equalised before Gustavo Fernández and Ignacio Terán completed the turnaround.
The celebrations began in Bahía Blanca with a large travelling support. They continued in Rawson with a caravan that delivered the squad and staff to El Fortín, where every player received an ovation.
The campaign started with group qualification built on four wins, one defeat and one draw against J.J. Moreno, Racing de Trelew and Defensores de la Ribera.
Heavy victories followed over San Lorenzo de Puerto Deseado, then a draw and a big win to see off Deportivo Patagones. Tight ties against Huracán de Comodoro and Independiente de Neuquén were edged, the Patagonian final settled by a memorable strike from Federico Cárcamo.
Ricardo Dichiara, Federico Cárcamo and Gustavo Fernández finished as joint top scorers on five goals each. Others also scored, including Darío Pellejero, Rubén Ramírez, Miqueas Martínez and Ignacio Terán.
