Ahead of the World Cup match between England and Ghana, a curious story is causing a stir. A self-proclaimed medicine man has announced his intention to stop Harry Kane with a curse.
Harry Kane is once again in the spotlight ahead of England’s second group stage match at the World Cup. This time, however, it’s not just about his athletic abilities. Ahead of the match against Ghana, a shaman from the African country is making headlines with some extraordinary claims.
As reported by the Daily Star, Ghanaian medicine man Nana Kwaku Bonsam has announced that he will use his spiritual powers against the Bayern striker.
“I don’t wish him a serious injury. It will just be enough to keep him from playing against my country. I’ll do my best to ensure Ghana benefits from it,” Bonsam explained.
The self-proclaimed shaman even went a step further: “I’ve shown before what I’m capable of, so I know what I have to do to stop him.”
Bonsam is no stranger to soccer circles. He already made headlines with similar statements at the 2014 World Cup, when he claimed to have cursed Portugal’s superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
At the time, Ronaldo was indeed struggling with knee problems, and his participation in the tournament was even in doubt for a while. In the end, however, the Portuguese star traveled to Brazil and even scored the decisive goal in the 2-1 victory over Ghana.
It’s doubtful that Bonsam’s predictions will prove more accurate this time around. One thing is clear, however: Ghana needs a strong performance against England to keep its chances of advancing alive.
After their spectacular 4-2 opening victory over Croatia, the Three Lions enter the match as clear favorites.
Kane, in particular, has been in outstanding form since the start of the tournament. With his two goals against Croatia, the 32-year-old tied England legend Gary Lineker and now has ten World Cup goals to his name.
Against Ghana, the Bayern Munich star could become his country’s all-time leading World Cup scorer.

Kane himself is traveling through North America with great confidence: “I’m coming into this tournament in the best possible shape,” the England captain explained in an interview with The Guardian.
The striker added: “Over the course of a career, there aren’t many phases where all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place at the right moment. Right now, I’m in one of those phases.”
The numbers back him up. Last season, Kane scored an impressive 61 goals and set up seven more in 51 competitive matches for FC Bayern.
Whether Ghana can actually stop this exceptional striker or whether Kane will celebrate his next record will be decided on the field Tuesday evening—and not by some supposed curse.
