WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official media update from The Cityzens just a short time ago.
The 27-year-old initially joined Manchester City on an emergency loan arrangement from Brighton & Hove Albion in April 2024 and she signed for The Cityzens on a permanent deal that summer. Startup has largely provided goalkeeping cover and competition during her time in the North West.
After her Manchester City departure was announced, Startup said “I entered City in the final stretches of a title chase, and it feels fitting that I leave now after finally finishing the job and seeing the WSL back at City.
“I want to extend a huge thank you to the fans for all your support, memes (yes, I see them), and for making me feel so welcome at this club from day one.
“To my teammates and everyone at the Club, thank you for bringing light to my every day.
“I cherish you and the memories we’ve made more than any match result, medal or title. I am a better person, have a fuller and richer life, because of you.
“The last two years have been the best six-week loan of my life. Thanks for making me a Cityzen, now and forever.”
Startup joins teammates Laura Coombs and Leila Ouahabi in leaving the Manchester City playing squad this summer.
