Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia was the hero for Spain’s U21 team, scoring the decisive goal in their European Championship 2027 qualifying clash against Finland.

His strike sealed a vital 2-1 victory for Spain and underlined why he is considered one of the most promising young talents emerging from Valdebebas.

Speaking after the match, the young attacker could not hide his joy. His words reflected both humility and the hunger to keep improving.

“I’ve been at Real Madrid for many years… I must have learned something from the heroics,” joked the Real Madrid youth player, as quoted by AS.

Focused on bigger challenges

Gonzalo acknowledged the expectations that come with his role: “A striker is always expected to score goals, both here (Spain) and at my club (Real Madrid),” he said.

Despite being one of Spain’s brightest young forwards, Gonzalo Garcia remains grounded. “I have to earn my opportunities at Real Madrid.

“I come here to play with the U21s and when I put on this shirt, I only think about the national team’s objectives, which are the 2027 European Championship,” he explained.

Eager for opportunities

The win against Finland meant a lot to him, and he made sure to credit both his coaches and teammates for the collective effort.

“David [Gordo] asks different things of me than they ask of me at Real Madrid, although I always try to help the team and do what the coach asks of me,” he said.

Wearing the number 7 shirt for Spain, Gonzalo showed why he deserves it.

“I hope I can score many more goals for the national team and also for Real Madrid, because what I have to do is take advantage of every opportunity,” he stated confidently.

Reflecting on the game, he added, “The goals came at the end… but we had created enough to turn the score around.”

Now, the young striker returns to Madrid, determined to continue “working to grow.”
