NJ/NY Gotham FC has had a good time on the West Coast so far. They won against San Diego Wave FC in San Diego for the first time. Then, they beat Vancouver Rise FC Academy in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup. Now, the Bats have an opportunity to go three for three out west with a match against Bay FC.
Thus far, Gotham FC has won all three games played against the newer team. The California side joined the NWSL last year and had a decent first season, finishing seventh in the standings. But this year, the team has struggled immensely. They are currently in 12th place and have won just four matches. Although 12 points separate the two sides, despite being in third and 12th place.
Nevertheless, anything can happen in the beautiful game. That is why Gotham FC must approach this match as if they were playing one of the teams in the top half. Plus, the result at home back in June proved Bay FC can easily compete. The NJ/NY side only won by a goal, winning 2-1. It was also not the best performance by the ladies, either.
What is interesting, though, is that both sides had 15 points entering that game. Since the opening whistle of that match, Gotham has earned 15 more while Bay has only earned three. Hence, the Bats have had better days. Of course, they have won their last three NWSL games, which has helped them move up to third in the table. So, it would be great for them to win their fourth in a row.

One thing that is crucial from this match is that Gotham FC must stay healthy. The injury report has mostly been short, and players who were trying to get back to 100% are close, like Rose Lavelle. But unfortunately, Taryn Torres tore her ACL and will be out for the rest of the season. That is why it is vital the team does not lose anyone else, for they need everyone as the season gets closer to the end.
