Some good news for Liverpool and Tottenham
Sweden manager Graham Potter has said there is a chance Tottenham midfielder Dejan Kulusevski and Liverpool striker Alexander Isak will return to action in March.
Kulusevski has not kicked a ball this season after undergoing knee surgery back in May 2025 which caused him to miss Tottenham’s Europa League final win over Manchester United.
This week, though, Kulusevski has shared a positive update on his recovery despite former Spurs head coach Thomas Frank recently saying he was not sure if the 25-year-old would play this campaign.
Isak, meanwhile, has been out of action since before Christmas after suffering an ankle injury in Liverpool’s win over Spurs that included a fractured fibula and required surgery.
However, Liverpool have shared images of Isak continuing his injury rehab at the AXA Training Centre ahead of their FA Cup fourth round tie at home to Brighton on Saturday.
While there has been specific timeline for the striker’s return to action, comments from Potter suggest it may not be too long before Isak - and Kulusevski - are back playing again.
“I hope they (Isak and Dejan Kulusevski) can play, but these are big injuries,” Potter said, via Fotboll Direkt, after discovering Sweden’s opponents in the Nations League.
“It’s tough to come back from injuries like that by March, but there’s a chance.
“Yes, I have spoken to both of them. They are on their way back and are optimistic.
“They are working very hard at home in the club team in an attempt to play with us in March.”
Sweden have been handed a lifeline in their attempts to qualify for next summer’s World Cup, thanks to their performance in the most recent Nations League campaign.
Potter’s side will face Ukraine in a play-off semi-final on March 26 and could take on the winners of the Poland vs Albania tie in the final five days later.
