Arsenal are on the brink of the Women’s Champions League quarter-finals after a convincing 4-0 victory away at OH Leuven.
Frida Maanum struck twice, with Olivia Smith and Alessia Russo also on the scoresheet in a dominant first-leg showing.
Renée Slegers rotated her side, making five changes, and although Arsenal controlled possession early on, they took time to truly threaten. Leuven looked to counter, but it was the visitors who struck first midway through the half, Maanum glancing home a header from Caitlin Foord’s cross.
Smith doubled the lead before the break, arriving to finish smartly after good work down the left. Maanum added a third shortly after half-time, converting from close range following another dangerous Foord delivery.
Russo came off the bench to volley in the fourth after a loose clearance, putting the tie beyond doubt.
Arsenal take a commanding advantage back to London, with a quarter-final meeting against Chelsea firmly in sight.
