Haaland nets twice as City ease past Burnley | OneFootball

Manchester City put in a dazzling display at the Etihad Stadium to run out 5-1 winners over Burnley.

The hosts went ahead early in the game when Burnley’s Maxime Esteve inadvertently turned a Jeremy Doku effort into his own net in the 12th minute, handing City an early advantage.

The Clarest, however, refused to lie down and pulled level in the 38th minute. Jaidon Anthony capitalised on a defensive error, scuffing a finish past the City defence with a deflection off Ruben Dias, giving the visitors a moment of hope.

City regained the lead midway through the second half thanks to Matheus Nunes. After a clever knock-down from Erling Haaland, Nunes lashed a precise volley past Martin Dubravka, restoring City’s edge.

From there, the champions really began to assert themselves. Nunes later turned provider, delivering a low cross that saw a final touch from Esteve again beat his own goalkeeper, adding to Burnley’s woes.

Erling Haaland then put the finishing touches on a comprehensive victory, scoring twice in the dying minutes (90th and 90+3).

The result sees City climb back to fourth in the table, reasserting their dominance after early-season stumbles, while Burnley remain just above relegation zone with four points.
