Manchester United have a break of about 14 days between their last Premier League clash against West Ham United and their upcoming away game against Everton.
This is good news for Michael Carrick, as he will get the chance to work with the squad on the training ground while allowing the injured players time to recuperate.
The Red Devils are already without Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount, and Patrick Dorgu. The caretaker head coach’s concerns increased when Harry Maguire hobbled off against the Hammers in the second half.
Leny Yoro, who came on as his replacement, did a fine job, but the England international has built up a solid partnership with Lisandro Martinez at the heart of the backline.
The 20-time English league champions have remained unbeaten since the duo were reinstated at the back by Carrick.
The former United midfielder would ideally like to continue with the same back-four heading into the business-end of the season.
In good news revealed by the official club website, Harry Maguire was spotted in team training on Saturday. The session was observed by United legend Bryan Robson alongside the head coach.
“Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has taken part in training at Carrington, as the MUTV cameras filmed the session.
“There had been some concern when the centre-back was withdrawn and replaced by Leny Yoro in the 68th minute of the 1-1 draw at West Ham United on Tuesday night.
“After appearing to be in a little discomfort, following a tangle with El Hadji Malick Diouf, in the first half, it was pleasing to see the 32-year-old out on the grass at our training base, along with his colleagues.”
Maguire’s impressive form has seen England boss Thomas Tuchel praise the centre-back, while claiming that Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw, along with the ex-Leicester City star, are all in contention to make the cut for the Three Lions’ World Cup squad.
The United squad also do not want to lose Harry Maguire and his leadership qualities, and they have urged INEOS to hand him a contract extension.
