The Ireland international was picked up by the Glasgow giants, who identified his potential during his time at Sligo Rovers.

The striker impressed in the Celtic B side and has been sent out on loan spells multiple times away from the club to ensure his development.

Kenny, 22, has 32 senior appearances for the Bhoys under his belt, having found himself thrust into the team earlier this season, but he is currently on loan at League One club Bolton Wanderers.

He admitted that he learned from the senior players at the Scottish Premiership giants, who still have the Irish striker on their books.

Earlier this season, Kenny was given chances to show his quality in front of the goal during an injury crisis and he did impress with his ability to finish.

However, in the winter window, Kenny was loaned out to English side Bolton Wanderers, who are well-positioned to compete in the League One playoffs.

Kenny has now scored two crucial goals in the Trotters’ last two league games, as Schumacher’s men picked up four points in the process.

The Trotters’ boss talked up the Celtic loanee’s goal against Stockport County on Easter Monday, a game which ended 2-2, noting that the Ireland striker did very well to score his goal, using his pace.

The 41-year-old lauded Kenny’s finish and insisted that if he is able to get on a scoring streak, it will be effective for him.

“It was a great finish [by Kenny]”, Schumacher told Bolton Wanderers’ media (1:31) when he was asked about the Bhoys on-loan hitman.

“I don’t know exactly how he got through, but I remember Sam Dalby ahead of him, and he didn’t look like he was going to be the favourite for the ball, but he got there because he is so quick.

“His finish was lovely – it was nice and composed, and it keeps him going.

“I said to him before the game, ‘it’d be nice to get yourself going and build some momentum because, when strikers get in form, and they hit hot streaks, then it can be effective’.

“So, I am really pleased for him.”

Former EFL winger Adrian Clarke has also praised the League One side for loaning in Kenny, dubbing it a good pickup.

The Celtic loanee’s team-mate, Dalby, has also hailed the 22-year-old, who will look to end the campaign on a strong note, to have a chance to compete for the first-team spot in Glasgow next term.
