Nigeria striker has long been linked with a move to the Premier League

Osimhen has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford and the Premier League for several seasons, but last month appeared to end ongoing speculation over his future last summer with a £65million move to Galatasaray, following a successful loan spell from Napoli.

The Nigeria international has been prolific in Turkey, scoring 49 goals in 57 appearances, which is in stark contrast to the figures put up by the likes of Joshua Zirkzee for United in the same period.

Galatasaray have reportedly placed a €140m (£121m) price on their star man’s head in a bid to ward off potential suitors.

Despite the potential financial obstacles, Ferdinand believes Osimhen would be willing to make the move if United expressed concrete interest.

Speaking with former Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan on his ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents’ podcast, the former defender said: “Victor Osimhen, he loves scoring goals, he plays with his heart, and gives everything. I’m surprised big clubs didn’t go for him in this transfer window.”

Gyan concluded by saying: “That is the type of striker we need right now, we have [Bryan] Mbeumo on the side doing what he needs to do.”
