Heerenveen punish Sparta to climb to ninth | OneFootball

Heerenveen beat Sparta Rotterdam 3-0 on matchday 16 at Het Kasteel to rise from 13th to ninth in the Eredivisie.

Jacob Trenskow opened the scoring in the 25th minute, finding the bottom corner from outside the box after Marcus Linday led a fast break.

After the restart, Vasilios Zagaritis doubled the lead from Joris Overeem's through ball (47.). Sparta then introduced Said Bakari (57.), but the substitute inadvertently turned into his own net to seal the points (70.).

Early on, Julian Baas struck the bar from a direct free kick and Bernt Klaverboer saved well from Mitchell Van Bergen. The visiting goalkeeper also denied a Teo Quintero header before the interval.

Heerenveen registered 20 attempts and forced 10 corners. Sparta had 52.4% possession but mustered just three efforts on target.
