Benfica have closed the door on winter arrivals, yet Henrique Araújo’s future remains unresolved. Record writes that the form of any exit, loan or permanent, is still undecided.

The forward last featured on 21 November 2025, playing a few minutes in the Taça de Portugal win over Atlético.

He was seen as a Bruno Lage pick rather than a José Mourinho one. Araújo impressed Bruno Lage in pre-season, but lost ground after Lage’s dismissal and Mourinho’s arrival.

Compounding matters, Anísio Cabral took the slot that had belonged to the Madeira-born striker. Mourinho has since favoured the 17-year-old’s profile over the 24-year-old.

This season Araújo has made 11 appearances for Benfica, five in Liga Portugal Betclic, four in the Champions League, one in the Supertaça and one in the Taça de Portugal. Across 135 minutes he has neither scored nor assisted. He is valued at 2 million euros.
