A new Liverpool wonderkid very much looks like the next Steven Gerrard.
Liverpool’s former number eight represented everything the club stands for.
He was a warrior on the pitch, a natural leader, and a player capable of producing moments of pure brilliance. Very few midfielders have combined passion, power, and technical quality the way he did, which is exactly why he became such a legendary figure at Anfield.
What truly set him apart was his influence on every aspect of the game. He could break up attacks with fierce determination, control the tempo in midfield, drive the team forward, and inspire everyone around him in the biggest moments.
So often, he dragged Liverpool through difficult periods almost single-handedly. His leadership qualities were undeniable, but it was his unforgettable moments of quality that left the strongest impression.
There was always a sense of anticipation whenever he lined up a strike from distance. He possessed a rare technique that blended precision with incredible power, making extraordinary long-range goals seem routine. Whether it was a fierce drive into the top corner or a curling effort from well outside the box, he had an exceptional ability to score spectacular goals.
More importantly, those goals almost always came when they mattered most — in defining league matches, memorable European nights, and major cup finals.
When you come through Liverpool’s academy as a midfielder, comparisons to the club’s greatest captain are almost unavoidable.
Over the years, countless young players have been labelled the “next Gerrard.” Names like Jay Spearing, Jordan Rossiter, and others all carried that expectation at one point or another.
But the reality is that nobody can truly replicate what Steven Gerrard achieved. His legacy at Liverpool stands alone, and for many supporters, he remains the club’s greatest-ever player.
Still, every now and then a young talent emerges who flashes qualities that spark memories of Gerrard at his best — the confidence, the intensity, the ability to take control of a game.
Players like Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both local lads with exceptional talent, brought that kind of excitement to supporters as they rose through the ranks.
And now, there’s another name beginning to generate that same feeling.
Let's us introduce you to Luca Eden. It's not often that a 14-year-old breaks a record at a club of the Reds' prestige but Eden can put himself in this category.
Last year at just 14 years and 263 days old, Eden broke the record for making an appearance for Liverpool at U18 level. He became the youngest to ever represent the Reds at that level.
Earlier this year in January, Eden then also became the youngest player to score for Liverpool at this level when he netted against Burnley.
Despite being so young, he made 10 appearances in total and became a regular for Liverpool's young side in the U18 Premier League, which is a massive sign of his talent considering he's still only 15-years-old.
Eden also captains England at U15 level and he recently registered an assist against Brazil.
In terms of his playing style Eden is a technically gifted midfielder. He is very tenacious and aggressive. He's good at using his body and winning his physical battles, and duels.
On top of that, he has a fantastic shooting range on him and has scored some spectacular goals from outside the box.
In many ways he is similar to Steven Gerrard. Obviously, there is still a long way to go for him but his playing style is very much like that of Gerrard, he plays just like him really, so he could become a fan favourite.
