How Bahia are shaping up to face Corinthians in Brasileirão opener

On the evening of this Wednesday, at 8 PM (Brasília time), Corinthians faces Bahia at Vila Belmiro for the first round of the Brazilian Championship. The Alvinegro seeks to have a different campaign from the last seasons, where they have only been in the middle of the table. In 2025, for example, the team scored only 47 points (12 wins, 11 draws, and 15 losses – 42 goals scored and 47 conceded).

However, tonight's match is not expected to be easy to start the Brazilian Championship on the right foot. Central do Timão details how Bahia arrives to face Corinthians. The northeastern team, so far, has played five matches this season, all in the state championship, where they lead with a 100% success rate – 16 goals scored and three conceded. It's worth noting that Bahia is the current champion of the Bahia State Championship and the Copa do Nordeste.

So far, in the state tournament, Bahia has won: Jequié (H) by 4 x 2, Bahia de Faria (A) by 3 x 0, Galícia (H) by 3 x 0, Barcelona-BA (H) by 5 x 1, and lastly, Vitória (A) by 1 x 0, in a classic that took place last weekend at the Barradão Stadium. This season, the Esquadrão will also compete in: Brasileirão, Libertadores (preliminary phase), and Copa do Brasil (starting from the fifth phase).

Rogério Ceni has two absences to face Corinthians in the Brasileirão debut: Ruan Pablo (sprained left ankle) and Sanabria (physical transition). Therefore, the northeastern team is expected to start the match with: Ronaldo, Gilberto, David Duarte, Ramos Mingo, and Luciano Juba; Acevedo, Jean Lucas, and Everton Ribeiro; Ademir, Erick Pulga, and Willian José.
