We looked at how Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer's estimate wages compare to his team-mate Vinicius Souza.
It has been an excellent start to the season for Sheffield United in the Championship and they will be optimistic that they can secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
Sheffield United were relegated from the Premier League last season after just one year in the top flight, but they look to be in a strong position to bounce back at the first attempt.
Despite working against a backdrop of takeover uncertainty and operating on a limited budget, manager Chris Wilder was able to bring in 10 new signings this summer, including a number of impressive additions.
Many of the new arrivals have already made a big impact, but arguably some of the Blades' key players this season have been those they managed to keep hold of during the summer, such as midfielders Gustavo Hamer and Vinicius Souza.
As Hamer and Souza continue to lead United's quest for promotion, we compared how much the duo are earning at Bramall Lane.
Hamer joined the Blades from Coventry City last summer for a fee of £15 million, and he was one of the shining lights in their disappointing relegation season, scoring five goals and registering seven assists in 38 appearances.
It had been claimed that United were open to selling Hamer this summer if they could recoup the fee they paid for him, but that stance changed after the 27-year-old's strong start to the season, and they rejected a bid of around £13 million from promotion rivals Leeds United late in the window.
According to Capology, Hamer receives £30,000 per week and £1,560,000 per year at Bramall Lane, but it should be stressed that those figures are an estimate.
That makes Hamer the club's joint-third highest-paid player, with only Harry Souttar (£40,000 per week and £2,080,000 per year) and record signing Rhian Brewster (£35,000 per week and £1,820,000 per year) earning more than the midfielder, although Souttar's parent club Leicester City are likely contributing to his salary.
Souza is one of the players who are estimated to take home the same amount as Hamer, along with Anel Ahmedhodzic and Tom Davies, and that will not be a surprise to Blades supporters given his importance to the team.
The 25-year-old made the move to United from Belgian side Lommel last summer for a fee of £10 million, and like Hamer, he was one of few players to emerge with any credit last season as he scored one goal in 38 appearances.
After Souza's impressive performances in the Premier League, he was the subject of a £15 million bid from Fulham this summer, while Italian giants AC Milan were also said to have been keen on the Brazilian, but he remained in South Yorkshire.
Given the outstanding partnership he has formed with Oliver Arblaster in midfield this season, Wilder will be delighted to have retained Souza, but the Blades will no doubt face the threat of losing him once again next summer if they fail to win promotion.
With a weekly payroll of £439,000 and an annual payroll of £22,828,000, United have the fourth-highest wage bill in the Championship behind Leeds, Burnley and West Bromwich Albion, but the players have certainly been repaying the club's significant investment in them so far this season.
