According to L'Équipe, Orlando City are pushing to bring Antoine Griezmann to MLS quickly. Personal terms are agreed, but Atlético Madrid must still be persuaded to let him go for a nominal sum despite a contract to June 2027.
The primary MLS window closes on 26 March and reopens from 13 July to 2 September.
Griezmann is in exclusive talks with Orlando after the club secured MLS "Discovery Priority" on him, giving them precedence over Los Angeles FC and San Diego FC.
The proposal would almost mirror his Madrid wages, about €9 million net per year, and run to December 2027 with an option. He renewed in June 2025 with a clause enabling an €8 million exit.
Orlando will not pay that fee for a player approaching 35, but will match his salary and add at least six extra contractual months. The offer appeals to him, and he has started only six of 22 La Liga matches this season, scoring six.
Any move hinges on a club agreement. Atlético are ready to make concessions. Griezmann is their record scorer with 210 goals in 480 games, and his 2019 Barcelona move fetched €120 million before a loan return and a permanent deal in July 2023 for €22 million.
Orlando want it done before the deadline and have a "designated player" slot. He remains bankable, and Inter Miami’s revenues have risen by 300 percent since Lionel Messi, 38, joined in 2023. Orlando want the 2018 World Cup winner as their figurehead.
