Vasco fans grew used to Rayan deciding games in 2025. His exit has left a gap up front and increased pressure on Brenner and Marino Hinestroza, who are still adapting.

According to Globo.com, the plan was to sign both and keep Rayan for at least six months, easing a transition after losing Vegetti.

Rayan asked to leave and Vasco accepted Bournemouth’s offer, so Brenner and Hinestroza arrived at São Januário as immediate starters expected to deliver.

In England, Rayan has stood out for Bournemouth, earning a spot on Carlo Ancelotti’s preliminary Brazil list for matches with France and Croatia in the United States. Brenner and Hinestroza remain below expectations.

Both arrived behind the squad physically after a brief off-season between the Copa do Brasil final and the Carioca. Brenner and Marino came in from holiday with the campaign already under way and the Brasileirão close.

Brenner’s start has been tougher. He debuted against Madureira in the Carioca, was booed next time out versus Chapecoense in the Brasileirão, then again against Bahia and Volta Redonda. A missed penalty against Fluminense proved the flashpoint, a kick that could have taken Vasco into the Carioca final.

Marino Hinestroza has had fewer minutes, only coming on as a substitute and yet to convince. In the same period, Nuno Moreira lost his starting spot while David and Adson gained minutes.

Vasco have invested more than R$ 60 million in the duo, signed to lead the line.
