Manchester City will look to pile the pressure on title rivals Arsenal as they host Newcastle United on Saturday, knowing a win would see the gap at the top reduced to just two points.
History is not on Newcastle’s side. They have played 20 league matches at the Etihad without tasting victory, a record they will be desperate to put right.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of this clash.

Manchester City have capitalised on league leaders Arsenal’s poor recent form and now find themselves within touching distance of top spot.
The hosts have won their last 4 games in all competitions, a run that started with Manchester City defeating Newcastle at home in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, knocking the holders out 5-1 on aggregate.
Newcastle are in similar form, having won their last three games, however are still struggling to find consistency in the league.
They will take plenty of encouragement from their midweek trip, as a near 5,000-mile round journey proved worthwhile with a 6–1 victory away to Qarabağ FK in the Champions League. Anthony Gordon will be hoping to bring his Champions League form to the league, having scored four goals on Wednesday, becoming the second top scorer in this season’s Champions League, behind only Kylian Mbappe.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said: “Many things are going to happen. I said weeks ago. Many thing are going to happen until the end of the season.
“12 games is a lot, like I said before. So Newcastle is my only concern.”
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe said: “Three away wins is a great return. Performances have been really good. Individual performances have been a lot stronger. We want to continue that good feeling.
“We learn something every game, not about them (Manchester City), about us. They are the benchmark, with each painful defeat we have suffered you grow from it.”
