Pep Guardiola out to complete another league double over his arch-rivals
The Manchester derby returns to Old Trafford this afternoon.
The two sides come into this match in contrasting positions. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City find themselves second in the Premier League and could halve the gap to Arsenal should they win and the Gunners lose at Nottingham Forest.
Manchester United, meanwhile, remain winless under the leadership of interim manager Michael Carrick.
City, in fact, have enjoyed quite a cheerful week. New signing Antoine Semenyo scored his first goals for the club in both a 10-1 FA Cup defeat of Exeter City and a 2-0 Carabao Cup defeat of Newcastle.
It was then all but confirmed on Friday that they were set to land another long-term transfer target in Marc Guehi in the coming days, an arrival Guardiola will be incredibly grateful for as he deals with a rash of injuries in his back-line.
And they could brighten the mood further today, as a win would see them complete a league double over their most bitter rivals.
