HSV sign Nigerian winger Philip Otele on loan from Basel

Hamburger SV have signed Nigerian winger Philip Otele on loan from Basel until the end of the season. The club confirmed the deal.

The 26-year-old will wear the number 27 shirt.

He is HSV's fourth winter addition, following Damion Downs, Sander Tangvik and Albert Grønbæk.

Board member Eric Huwer said bringing Otele in at the close of the window gives them another option that adds variety and depth in attack. He added that sporting director Claus Costa and his team rounded off a busy period, filling four key positions and shaping the squad the way they intended.

Otele called it a proud moment and said he needed little convincing, describing HSV and the Volksparkstadion as massive. He praised the fans' support and said he cannot wait to get started.
