Valencia face a growing fitness squeeze before Tuesday’s trip to Son Moix, with Hugo Duro and Unai Núñez again training apart and increasingly unlikely to be at 100% for the game. According to Superdeporte, both worked individually on Saturday in Paterna and have not been ruled out.
The issues are most acute at the back. The only fit centre-back at present is César Tárrega, with Carlos Corberán unable to call on his other options in the position.
Unai Núñez is recovering from a problem in his right hamstring area suffered against RC Celta at Mestalla, which kept him out at Elche. Eray Cömert has an abdominal muscle injury from the Elche CF match and is out, as are the injured Copete and Mouctar Diakhaby.
Corberán also lacks academy centre-back Alejandro Panach, who is sidelined. All signs point to Pepelu being chosen to bolster central defence, having trained there in recent days alongside academy player Rubo Iranzo.
Duro also appears up against it to start. He remains apart from the group with a hamstring issue two sessions before the match. Corberán is hoping he can at least make the squad, with all signs pointing to Umar Sadiq starting, and the final two sessions set to decide whether Duro and Núñez travel.
