The Austrian forward looked set for a disappointing first appearance, with the Hoops staring down the barrel of a shock Scottish Cup exit to Dundee at Celtic Park.
But in a late twist, the Freiburg loanee flicked in from a Sebastian Tounekti low cross deep into injury time, before Tounekti himself went on to secure the decisive goal shortly after extra time began to book Celtic’s place in the quarter-final.
The 24 year-old said via Celtic’s official website: “It felt amazing to help the team qualify for the next round. We keep going. I came here to improve myself, help the team, and win the title.”

“My mentality is to never give up. I come in and try to give my best. I saw the ball and tried to position myself. I saw the ball coming, tried to keep my body steady, and used my left leg. I have scored many goals, but this is one of the most important.”
Still settling into life in Scotland after his Deadline Day transfer, the former Red Bull Salzburg youngster was handed a crucial responsibility when introduced for Tomas Cvancara – to try and help rescue Celtic’s Scottish Cup hopes.
Adamu revealed what interim boss Martin O’Neill told him just before he came on for Cvancara.
“He said I should be ready,” he said. “My teammates told me the same. I was ready, and when I came in, I gave my best. I used the opportunity, and I am happy it went in.”
Celtic will now face a trip to Ibrox on the weekend of 7/8 March in the Scottish Cup quarter-final following their victory over Dundee at the weekend. A gruelling schedule awaits Martin O’Neill’s men with two trips to Ibrox, as well visits to Stuttgart and Pittodrie all sandwiched into a 10 day period at the end of February, beginning of March.
