Alejandro Garnacho has been in and out of Enzo Maresca’s starting eleven since signing for Chelsea in the summer. After earning a regular role, he’s been dropped for Jamie Gittens a few times in recent weeks.
Today he’s back in with a huge test against Everton on the cards. Ahead of kick off, he spoke to the Premier League’s official website about how vital a game for Chelsea this was after a run of 4 matches without a win.

“We need a reaction from the last games. Now we are at home with our fans again so we want to win the game. We show to the world that we are a team that can beat any team. That’s what we have to do today.”
“We are doing a lot of rotation, we have a lot of players and need some rest from the other games. I’m focused on me, I train hard every day, and when I have the opportunity I try to do my best and try to convince the manager.”
He clearly knows and accepts that he won’t play every game, but he also knows he’s not yet an untouchable starter in the first team. A big performance today in a game which really matters could help him establish his place.
Marc Cucurella has also been speaking ahead of the game, and has made it clear that everyone knows how big this game is for the Blues inside the building.
Enzo Maresca didn’t pick Andrey Santos for today’s game, which shows there’s still a lack of trust from the coach in the Brazil international, something fans just can’t understand when the team needs a physical presence and a natural midfielder.
