He was aged only 16 when that goal went in - but has since turned 17. Given his age, Ngumoha was operating on a scholar contract - becoming eligible for a first, professional deal when he turned 17 on August 29.
Liverpool fans might have been expecting to see Ngumoha presented across the club’s social media channels in an announcement of his new deal but it’s been all quiet on that front.
In fact, Spanish media has even suggested that owing to the lack of a pro deal that Real Madrid could steal in for Ngumoha - a player the 15-time European champions are keeping a close eye on.
But almost accidentally it’s been claimed that the forward HAS signed his new contract. That’s according to a new report from club insider Lewis Steele - who claims that the new deal will take Ngumoha well beyond the usual sums offered to players his age.
“Upon turning 17 a few weeks ago, Ngumoha was given a professional contract,” the report reads.
“Some insist that it is worth just £1,000 a week, based on Liverpool’s wage structure of not offering too much, too soon.
“This figure, however, is extremely conservative to say the least. One agent, who looks after several youth players, tells us that with bonuses and add-ons, Ngumoha will be earning much, much more.”
