Inter have conceded 16 goals in 17 matches, with several arriving late in games.

The pattern mirrors the problems of last season.

Indeed, lapses in concentration, fading intensity, and a tendency to drop points.

Chivu must also navigate a worrying trend in big games.

So far, the Nerazzurri have beaten only Roma among their direct rivals.

Their other showdowns have ended in defeat, against Juventus, Napoli, Milan and now Atletico.

It’s an uncomfortable statistic at a time when confidence should be growing, not dipping.

The tension is visible on the pitch too.
