Inter Milan and Lazio are keen to sign teenage Racing Club midfielder Bautista Perez.

This according to Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, via FCInterNews. They report that the 16-year-old has come on to the two Serie A clubs’ radar as a holding midfielder with significant potential.

Inter have begun to shift their focus in the transfer market to targeting younger players under the ownership of Oaktree Capital.

This summer transfer window was the first window under the US fund’s ownership.

And there were clear signs of Oaktree’s intentions as far as building the squad.

The Inter owners are willing to invest in signings. But they want to target players who are young and have the potential to improve, and gain in value.

This approach was clearly evident in Inter’s move for defender Tomas Palacios.

Palacios arrived after impressing with Independiente Rivadivia in Argentina. However, the 21-year-old had hardly established himself at the top level.

Meanwhile, defender Yann Bisseck has proven to be a model for that approach.

Inter signed Bisseck from Danish side Aarhus in 2023. And while the German was a relatively obscure name when he arrived, he has very much announced himself.

According to TyC Sports, there is another name that has come onto Inter’s radar from Argentina.

That would be teenage midfielder Bautista Perez.

Perez is still just sixteen years of age. And according to TyC Sports, he has yet to sign a professional contract with Racing.

However, Perez’s qualities have already become evident.

Particularly at the defensive side of the game, the 16-year-old has excelled at protecting the defense in the holding midfield position.

Therefore, Inter have taken notice, according to TyC Sports.

This would hardly be the first time that the Nerazzurri have looked to the Argentine league for talent.

Aside from Palacios’s arrival this summer, Inter captain Lautaro Martinez actually came in from Racing Club, Bautista Perez’s club, in 2018.

However, TyC report, Inter are not the only club in Serie A who consider Perez to be a target.

The broadcaster report that Lazio are also keen on the young midfielder.
