A crucial piece of the Scudetto is at stake this evening at San Siro, but Beppe Marotta prefers to frame Inter Milan’s clash with Napoli through the lens of growth, balance and collective work rather than title pressure.
Speaking to DAZN before kick-off, the Inter president first addressed his relationship with Antonio Conte, keeping the tone measured despite the rivalry.
“I already greeted him in the dressing rooms, which is the minimum between two correct people who spent years working together,” Marotta said.
“Points of view can differ, but that’s part of our world. These are verbal sparrings that football produces when there are duels at the top of the table.”
Marotta then underlined how decisive the psychological aspect could be on a night like this. “The mental side in modern football represents a very high percentage,” he explained.
“Tonight will also be played from that point of view. The credit belongs to this league position and to a phase of the season that finds us satisfied, and the credit goes to Chivu. As a club, we have the duty to support him in his work. We’ve done that through closeness and daily dialogue. The credit is shared between him and the team. And then there’s the credit of the fans, who have never failed to show us their affection.”

The Inter president also touched on the January transfer window and the search for a right wing-back, confirming alignment between club and coach.
“Absolutely yes,” Marotta said when asked whether the club and Chivu share the same vision.
“The club and the coach must act in unison. A coach may not know every player in the world, but we have the obligation to discuss things with him to define the necessary profiles. In this case, we have a large squad that responds to the season’s objectives. We do have this issue linked to Denzel Dumfries’ injury. If we can strengthen that side of the squad, we will, but it’s not easy to find a profile worthy of Inter. Those opportunities are rare in January.”
Marotta’s words reflect a club that feels solid in its direction, united behind its coach and conscious of the fine margins ahead.
With Inter top of the league and Napoli standing in their way, the president’s message is clear: trust in Chivu, trust in the group, and trust in a process built through daily work rather than noise.
