Yann Sommer was full of praise for Inter Milan’s maturity and defensive solidity after the Nerazzurri battled to a 1-0 victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Swiss goalkeeper, once again decisive between the posts, spoke to Sky Sport after the match and underlined how both individual focus and collective effort are driving the team’s progress.
“It was a tough match tonight,” Sommer admitted, with quotes via FCInterNews.
“As a team and as individuals, we had to give everything.
“In the second half, we didn’t play many balls forward, but we defended well – and that’s really important.”

The 35-year-old veteran highlighted how Inter’s experience and internal calm have become key ingredients in their current winning run.
“Of course, that’s a very important point,” he explained.
“We’ve already been through many situations like this, especially early in the season. A calm team is the most important thing.
“In certain moments, you can show what it means to really be a team.”
Sommer also stressed the need for composure in handling the pressure that comes with playing for Inter.
“At this club, there’s always pressure when you lose – we all know that,” he continued.
“But we told ourselves to stay calm. We gave ourselves time to grow into the season. We’re improving, even if we’re not yet at the level we want to show.”
Sommer marshalled the backline and Chivu’s side now boasting five consecutive wins across all competitions.
