Al-Hilal tore apart Al-Khaloud 6-0 on Wednesday, and Simone Inzaghi said Mohamed Kader Miti’s omission reflected selection balance under the foreign-player quota. The result kept the defending champions in the Roshen League title race.
As reported by Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, Inzaghi said he makes choices case by case, adding: “We are only allowed to field eight foreign players, and I am pleased with the performance Miti put in during the last match.”
He also indicated he is managing the Ivorian’s minutes within a deep squad so others can step in without a drop in level.
Inzaghi argued the display mirrored the 2-2 draw with Al-Taawoun, the difference being ruthlessness. He would not talk about luck, stressing the need to be clinical and to take chances.
He noted they registered nine shots on target in both games and said the returns of Karim Benzema and Sergej Milinković-Savić helped, though the technical level was comparable to the previous outing.
The coach praised the game plan, the impact of substitutes and the travelling support, while warning against complacency before the next fixture. He said the clean sheet and three points should lift morale.
