According to journalist Fabrizio Romano on Saturday, the Toffees are willing to offer a competitive salary in a bid to land the forward after his impressive Premier League campaign.

Delap’s future has been the subject of intense speculation going into the summer transfer window following the relegation of Kieran McKenna’s side.

The 22-year-old has bagged 12 goals from 36 appearances in the top flight ahead of their final game of the season this weekend, having joined the Tractor Boys from Manchester City last summer.

Everton have entered the race to sign Delap this transfer window, with Moyes keen to bolster his attacking options.

It has been claimed that the Scot met the player face-to-face to help convince him of a move to the club and their project for the future.

However, Chelsea and Man United remain keen on signing the ex-Man City academy player, who has earned a lot of praise for his performances this season.

It has been reported by Sky Sports that the striker has a release clause in his contract that has been triggered by Ipswich’s relegation.

The clause is believed to be worth £30 million, with Newcastle United also interested, leaving the Suffolk outfit with little they can do to keep the player after dropping out of the Premier League.

Delap has a contract with Ipswich until the summer of 2029, but the release clause in his deal means a departure this year is likely.

Delap signed for Ipswich last summer from Man City in a deal worth a reported £20million, per the BBC.

The 22-year-old has started 32 times in the top flight since making that switch, making a further four appearances from the bench.

Delap is the team’s top scorer with 12 goals with just one game remaining in their league campaign.

The Tractor Boys’ Premier League season ends on Sunday with a home clash against West Ham.

Delap now has his choice of suitors, and will surely be staying in the Premier League next season.

The £30million relegation release clause in his deal means that clubs don’t need to negotiate a deal with Ipswich and can talk directly to the player.

At a time when player valuations are sky-high, being able to cut out that negotiation makes Delap a very enticing option, particularly given the price and his goalscoring record this year.

Everton are an exciting project now given they’re under new ownership and have a new stadium, but it remains to be seen whether these face-to-face talks have convinced Ipswich's hitman ahead of Man United or Chelsea’s proposals.
