Isaac Babadi’s entourage has reportedly offered the player to SC Heerenveen, as coach Robin Veldman revealed in an interview with ESPN.
According to Veldman, it’s strange that an entourage of a player who is not a free agent may present to another club. That said, Heerenveen are interested in the PSV midfielder. “We’re following him closely. We always have to see if guys who just miss out at top clubs can be of any use to us,” Veldman said.
“We’re working hard on it. We’re currently looking for someone to fill Levi Smans’s position.” Smans tore his cruciate ligament last Saturday against FC Volendam and will be out of action for months.
Babadi was close to joining Heerenveen in the last January window, yet manager Peter Bosz cancelled the transfer, as he thought he may have the player in his plans. “But if he wants to go now, and PSV wants to loan him out, then you’d think it’s done quickly?” the ESPN reporter then asks. “Yes, but we’ll have to have a proper conversation first”, Veldman replies.
“We’ll first have to sit down with him and explain how we operate here. We want to know if he sees himself fitting into that plan. We’re not going to bring in a player who only thinks he can play here without any strings attached.”
