Aleksandar Pavlović believes Bayern Munich delivered almost the perfect performance in their commanding 6-1 Champions League win over Atalanta. Speaking after the match, the Bayern midfielder praised the team’s overall display but admitted the late consolation goal prevented a flawless evening.

“It doesn’t get much better than this,” Pavlović said. “Of course we would have liked to keep a clean sheet, but we’re still very happy with the result.” According to the 21-year-old, Bayern set the tone from the very beginning of the match and never allowed Atalanta to grow into the game.

“We were there from the start and approached the game really well,” he explained. “The result is really great.”

Pavlović also singled out teammate Michael Olise, who scored twice during Bayern’s dominant performance. “Michael’s goals were really beautiful, you have to say that,” Pavlović added.

Despite the comfortable victory, the mood was dampened by several injury concerns late in the match. Alphonso Davies left the pitch in tears earlier in the second half, while Jamal Musiala and goalkeeper Jonas Urbig also appeared to pick up knocks.

“It hurts to see Davies leave the pitch crying,” Pavlović said. “And it’s painful to see Jamal Musiala and Jonas Urbig go off as well. I hope they can all return to the pitch soon.”

Pavlović was also surprised to learn after the match that Joshua Kimmich and Michael Olise will miss the return leg due to suspension after picking up yellow cards.

“I didn’t know that Kimmich and Olise will now miss the second leg,” he said. “But if that means they can play in the quarter-finals, then it’s good.”
