Jack Harrison reflects on Leeds loan exits and fan reaction in farewell message | OneFootball

Jack Harrison has accepted that twice leaving Leeds United on loan after relegation was hard for supporters to take. His eight-year stay ended on Saturday with a permanent move to MLS side New England Revolution.

The player said in a post that the loan moves were not easy decisions, that he respected the club throughout and that seeing Leeds back in the Premier League makes him proud.

Much of the past three seasons were spent away, with two spells at Everton followed by a six-month stint at Fiorentina from January. Both Everton switches happened after he triggered a relegation-linked release clause in his contract following the 2022/23 drop to the Championship.

Harrison had been a key figure in the 2019/20 title-winning team, then helped Leeds finish ninth in the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa. His loan exits subsequently soured relations with sections of the fanbase, a subject he has now addressed.

Messages of support arrived from former team-mates, with Liam Cooper writing all the best and Patrick Bamford wishing him good luck. Illan Meslier and Tyler Roberts added their own tributes, while Barry Douglas, Isaac Schmidt and Dominic Calvert-Lewin also commented.

Harrison becomes the last member of the 2019/20 title-winning squad to depart, joining fellow summer exits Meslier and Pascal Struijk. Only Daniel James and Joe Gelhardt now remain from those who featured under Bielsa.
