West Ham United travel to Anfield on 28th February 2026 with real ambition. They face a Liverpool side that have dominated most of this Premier League season. Nuno must organise his squad carefully. He cannot select two key players for this match. Freddie Potts misses out through suspension after his red card. Meanwhile, Pablo sits on the sidelines with a calf injury. The medical team expects him back in mid-March 2026. Despite these setbacks, Nuno has enough quality in his squad. He will likely use a disciplined 4-2-3-1 shape to challenge the Merseysiders.
Mads Hermansen starts in goal. A four-man defensive line with plenty of Premier League experience supports him. Aaron Wan-Bissaka plays at right back. He offers defensive grit and moves forward in tight spaces. Konstantinos Mavropanos partners Axel Disasi at centre back.
This physically strong duo can handle Liverpool’s direct runners. Malick Diouf takes the left back position. His recovery pace is vital against a fast-transitioning side. This back four provides a solid foundation. Nuno trusts them to absorb pressure when Liverpool attack in numbers.
Mateus Fernandes and Soungoutou Magassa form the double pivot. They sit deep to protect the defence and keep the ball moving. Fernandes brings technical skill and calm to the midfield. Magassa adds energy and disrupts the opponent’s build-up play.
Tomas Soucek plays just ahead of them in the number ten role. He links the midfield and attack. His late runs into the box are a major threat. Soucek is dangerous in the air and arrives late in the area. Nuno expects him to work hard for the full match.

Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville start on the wings. They must exploit the space behind Liverpool‘s full-backs. This will happen when West Ham win the ball back quickly. Bowen presses relentlessly down the right side. He often pulls defenders out of position.
Summerville offers speed on the other flank. He can cut inside onto his right foot at any time. Valentin Castellanos leads the line. His intelligent movement and strength stretch the Liverpool defence. He gives West Ham a clear target for their attacking play.
