Sport Bild reports that Jesper Lindstrøm’s move to Schalke 04 has stalled. The 26-year-old remains at the headquarters of his potential new Bundesliga club in Gelsenkirchen while Schalke and Napoli haggle over the details of the loan arrangement. Apparently, Schalke don’t favor the manner in which the Serie A outfit wish to structure the automatic purchase clause.
Lindstrøm was expected to complete his medical before being officially unveiled as Schalke’s latest summer signing.
The latest report suggests that Napoli have attempted to alter previously discussed terms. Schalke reportedly want the agreement to contain a purchase option and are open to the option being mandatory under certain conditions.
Napoli are nevertheless pushing for an obligation that would effectively force Schalke to purchase Lindstrøm for €5m via an agreement tied to an even lower number of appearances.
Schalke have suspended negotiations and will only consider completing the transfer if Napoli return to the original arrangement. Lindstrøm could otherwise travel back to Italy shortly.
The Denmark international spent last season on loan at Wolfsburg. He made four Bundesliga starts and another 11 appearances as a substitute during a difficult campaign in which his estimated market value fell to approximately €4m.
