Gabriel Jesus was the difference at San Siro as Arsenal beat Inter Milan 3-1 to keep their perfect Champions League record intact and secure a top-two finish in the league phase.

Already assured of a place in the top eight, the Gunners delivered another composed European performance to extend their longest-ever winning run in the competition to seven matches.

They started on the front foot and were rewarded early when Jesus reacted quickest to poke home from close range inside 10 minutes.

The hosts responded well and enjoyed a spell of pressure, drawing level through Petar Sucic, who curled a fine strike beyond David Raya after Arsenal failed to fully clear their lines.

However, the visitors regained control in familiar fashion, striking again from a set piece. Bukayo Saka’s deep corner was nodded back into the danger area by Leandro Trossard, allowing the unmarked Jesus to head home his second just past the half-hour mark.

Inter continued to threaten in spells, but Arsenal looked increasingly comfortable after the break. Substitute Viktor Gyökeres made sure of the points late on, curling a superb finish into the corner from the edge of the box to cap off an impressive away display.

The win guarantees Arsenal a top-two finish and allows Mikel Arteta the luxury of rotation in their final league-phase fixture. Inter, meanwhile, still have work to do to secure automatic qualification, with a tricky trip to Borussia Dortmund looming.
