According to Diario Do Peixe, referee João Vitor Gobi received only a warning from the TJD’s second Disciplinary Commission after a hearing on Tuesday 10 over his conduct in São Paulo’s 2-0 win against Santos.
The incident occurred at Morumbis in the Paulistão’s sixth round on 31 January. Players from both sides alleged he insulted Santos left-back Vinicius Lira. He was charged under Article 273 for excessive or abusive authority, which carries a 15 to 180 day suspension and a possible R$100 to R$1,000 fine.
Represented by Dr. Pércio Leite, Gobi presented his own testimony. By majority, a 15 day suspension was set then converted into a warning.
Midfielder Gabriel Menino and football director Alexandre Mattos were also named in the complaint, but their cases were postponed after a request from Dr. Marcelo Trevisan de Góes.
Menino had been dismissed for two bookings. Gobi’s match report said he made a reckless challenge on Marcos Antônio Silva Santos, insulted the referee after the red card, and kicked a multiball by his goal on leaving the field. He was cited under Article 250 for unsporting or hostile conduct, and under Article 258, paragraph 2, item II for disrespecting the officials.
Menino was additionally cited under Article 219 in the form of Article 184 for damaging a sporting venue, with possible suspension of 30 to 180 days, fines from R$100 to R$100,000, and compensation. Mattos was cited under Article 258-B for entering the officials’ area during half-time, an offence punishable by a one to three match suspension.
