The PAOK full-back arrived at Celtic in 2021 as short-term defensive reinforcement after Jeremie Frimpong completed a transfer to Bayer Leverkusen.

Although Kenny made 16 appearances and registered four assists during his time in Glasgow, his loan spell coincided with Celtic missing out on the Scottish Premiership title as the Ibrox club ended their hopes of a historic ‘10 in a Row’.

It was only a month after Kenny came through the door that Neil Lennon was sacked following a 1-0 defeat to Ross County in Dingwall.

Speaking on Open Goal’s PAOK vlog alongside former Celtic left-back Greg Taylor, Kenny offered a frank appraisal of his experience at the club.

“Yeah, Greg’s my boy. I met him before Celtic…. I was on a lads’ holiday, and we got chatting and that. He played for Scotland Under-21s at the time,” Kenny said.

“And obviously, I went to Celtic. The club’s massive, and everyone knows what it means to people. I’ve got family members who are big Celtic fans, and I knew what it meant.

“But it was just the wrong place at the wrong time. The club wasn’t going through a good time; I think (the)Rangers had already won the league at the time, hadn’t they?”

“I’ve just gone to get game time and obviously play for a massive club… It’s just gone the other way. Listen, you’ve got to bounce back. It’s football, do you know what I mean? Everyone’s got their own little story, and that was part of mine.”

By contrast, his PAOK teammate Taylor enjoyed far greater success during his time at the Hoops, lifting 11 trophies across a six-year spell in which he featured more than 200 times for the club.
