City’s top scorer Jordan James may miss Leicester City’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Monday after sitting out the 2-2 draw with Preston.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the 21-year-old tried to train on Thursday but was not ready. Gary Rowett had said the issue picked up on Wales duty was not as bad as first feared and that James could play some part on Good Friday, yet he did not make the bench.

Aaron Ramsey’s comeback was also delayed. Illness stopped him making a first appearance of 2026 in the 0-0 at Watford before the international break, then a slight training issue this week ruled him out against Preston.

Rowett said James’ Thursday attempt was not right and Monday might be too quick a turnaround. He added Ramsey had felt something and they must be cautious, and he had hoped to have him on the bench. He suggested little would probably change by Monday, and said the pair could have added late quality, while Bobby De Cordova-Reid impressed after arriving on Friday afternoon without training.

There was one boost as Jannik Vestergaard made his first appearance since January, coming on late as an emergency striker. Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic returned to the squad for the first time since February, with Jakub Stolarczyk keeping his place.
