After the restart, Pierce Charles denied Steven Nzonzi with a central save (47.) as Stoke pressed for a second.

Lamine Cissé doubled the lead from close range (57.). The forward later went off injured, with Tomas Rigo introduced (74.).

There were treatment stoppages for Rak-Sakyi in the first half and for Cissé before his withdrawal.

Stoke produced six shots on target from 12 attempts. The Owls mustered 16 attempts but hit the target only twice.
