Jorginho posts photo as Flamengo players shelter during protest at halted match

Flamengo’s match against Independiente Medellín was halted on safety grounds after crowd disorder, and the squad returned to the dressing room. Jorginho used X to reassure fans with an image from inside.

Colombia’s police requested the game be played behind closed doors, but Independiente Medellín did not comply, allowing supporters into the stadium.

Independiente Medellín supporters then threw explosive devices, broke barriers and invaded the pitch, prompting the referee to take the teams off the field for safety.

The player said in a post that they were fine and waiting. The photo also showed Cebolinha, Ayrton Lucas, Léo Pereira, Luiz Araújo and Léo Ortiz.

If the match does not go ahead, Flamengo could be awarded three points by W.O., with Conmebol’s precedent of giving Fortaleza victory over Colo Colo in the 2025 Libertadores.
