José Mourinho is considering further promotions from Benfica's academy, with Rui Silva, Gonçalo Moreira and Tomás Soares among those who could be next. According to Glorioso 1904, recent chances for Daniel Banjaqui and Anísio Cabral have kept the pathway open.
Mourinho is impressed by the work at Benfica Campus and recognises significant potential. Some prospects are viewed as candidates to earn minutes in the medium term.
He has been closely tracking progress in Seixal, sharing guidance with youngsters and backing those who stand out. Even Rui Silva, who has not logged B-team minutes, has been called up to the first team and could debut. Moreira has previously drawn praise from the Setúbal-born coach, and forward Tomás Soares, an Under-17 world champion, is also well placed.
Since arriving at the Estádio da Luz in September, Mourinho has handed senior bows to six players: Ivan Lima, Rodrigo Rêgo, José Neto, Tiago Freitas, Daniel Banjaqui and Anísio Cabral. Ivan Lima made two brief outings against Chaves and Arouca and has not been recalled, while Rodrigo Rêgo started against Nacional but has been omitted lately. Tiago Freitas debuted against Napoli, then injury halted his progress.
Benfica's next domestic game is against Tondela at Estádio João Cardoso on Sunday one February, kick-off 20:30. Seixal graduates could feature again.
