José Mourinho says Richard Ríos is not well and will be out for the next 10 days.

The Benfica coach was speaking on Friday ahead of the trip to Rio Ave in the 18th round of Liga Portugal Betclic. According to Glorioso 1904, he said the recovery timeline is difficult to predict and, with a non-surgical plan, the area needs time to strengthen so the player feels comfortable.

Mourinho added that within this 10-day window he is certain the 25-year-old will not feature. That rules Ríos out of the visit to Vila do Conde, as well as upcoming games against Juventus and Estrela da Amadora.

Ríos chose not to have surgery after dislocating his right shoulder, avoiding a lay-off that could have ended his season. An operation would have required a lengthy recovery, potentially putting at risk the fitness needed to represent his national team at the World Cup.

This season he has made 32 appearances for Benfica, with 16 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 10 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 2,622 minutes he has scored three goals and supplied two assists. He is valued at 22 million euros.
