One of the biggest stories emerging from Real Madrid pre-season involves highly-rated midfielder Thiago Pitarch, whose future will be decided by new head coach Jose Mourinho over the coming weeks.
According to AS, the Portuguese manager wants to assess the young midfielder in person before making a final decision on whether he will become part of the senior squad for the 2026/27 campaign.
The latest Real Madrid news comes shortly after Pitarch enjoyed a remarkable summer with Spain at the UEFA Under-19 European Championship.
His performances played a key role in Spain lifting the trophy, while he also finished the tournament as the competition’s leading assist provider, significantly boosting his reputation ahead of the new season.
Instead of heading into the campaign with certainty, however, the Real Madrid academy graduate now faces another important challenge as he attempts to convince Mourinho that he deserves a permanent place in the first-team setup.

The report states that Mourinho has included Pitarch in his plans for Real Madrid pre-season training, meaning the midfielder will return from his holiday earlier than expected to begin work with the senior squad.
Fortunately for the youngster, those close to the player believe he is unfazed by the pressure and is fully prepared to compete for a place among the Real Madrid players ahead of the new campaign.
Right now, competition in midfield remains fierce, particularly after Bernardo Silva’s arrival.
However, the departures of Dani Ceballos and the possibility of another midfielder leaving the club could create valuable opportunities within Mourinho’s rotation.
That situation makes Thiago Pitarch Real Madrid future one of the more intriguing stories to follow during pre-season.

Pitarch heads into pre-season with growing confidence after an impressive breakthrough year at club and international level.
The midfielder was one of the standout performers for Spain at the UEFA Under-19 European Championship, returning to Madrid with both a winners’ medal and the tournament’s top assist award.
It must be remembered that last season, Pitarch featured in ten La Liga matches and made six appearances in the UEFA Champions League, gaining valuable experience against some of Europe’s strongest teams.
Those performances have made him one of the most talked-about Real Madrid youngsters heading into Mourinho’s first season in charge.
