Spain’s 2-0 semi-final win over France in Dallas produced a viral off-pitch cameo as Juan Roig crossed paths with IShowSpeed.

According to Superdeporte, the American streamer, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., roamed AT&T Stadium broadcasting live, drawing audiences in the millions and boasting more than 160 million followers across YouTube, TikTok and Instagram.

The exchange began when Ana Botín and Roig asked for a selfie. Speed seemed unsure who they were, and their companions made the introductions.

To explain Roig’s position as Mercadona’s president and largest shareholder, Botín described the chain as the Spanish equivalent of Walmart. She did not add that his Valencia Basket could be likened to the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA.

The description landed immediately, Speed reacted with surprise, shook Roig’s hand and offered a courteous greeting. Captured live, the clip spread rapidly on social media.

Botín also presented herself as the European equivalent of JP Morgan, referenced Banco Santander’s Openbank in the United States, and encouraged Speed to open an account while outlining some of its advantages.

Roig’s wealth is estimated at around €7,900 million, while Botín’s is put near €3,000 million.
