The bad news about the serious injury sustained by Real Madrid and Brazil forward Rodrygo has now been confirmed by MARCA, via Fabrizio Romano.
Having hurt his knee on Monday night during the game against Getafe, Rodrygo underwent medical tests earlier today and the initial fears were that the issue could be serious.
Soon after reports emerged suggesting that the 25-year-old attacker had injured the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his knee, which would bring down the curtains on his season.
Now, the same has been corroborated by MARCA, Rodrygo has suffered damage to the ACL in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season and the World Cup.
The diagnosis represents a severe blow for both the player and his teams, Real Madrid and Brazil.

Rodrygo had returned against Getafe after almost a month out due to tendinitis. Only minutes after stepping onto the pitch, the Brazilian went down on the flank when his knee became trapped in an awkward movement.
Clear signs of pain were visible immediately, yet the Real Madrid No. 11 managed to continue and complete the match. At the end of the match, he was seen holding his right knee, where he had begun to feel discomfort.
The medical staff examined him in the dressing room after the game and agreed with the player to carry out further tests the following morning, and now it has been confirmed that he has torn his ACL.
Now, Real Madrid are left with Vinicius Jr. and Gonzalo Garcia as the only available forwards for the game vs Celta Vigo. After all, Kylian Mbappe is also injured and Franco Mastantuono is suspended.
